Our onboarding program is your first real experience of what makes ALU different. Through a mix of onboarding culture calls with the People Experience Team and community connections via Harambe, you will see how our mission, culture, and way of working come to life. It is designed not just to help you settle in, but to inspire you to lead, innovate, and grow from day one.

Offer Accepted & Contract Signed
With your offer accepted and contract signed, your onboarding journey continues as we prepare for your first day
A Warm Welcome
You'll receive a warm welcome email shortly after, marking the exciting decision to start your time at ALU.
Getting Set Up on BambooHR
Shortly after receiving the welcome email, you will get access to BambooHR, where you will find your welcome packet and onboarding tasks. This helps you get organised so that you are ready to dive into your new role.
Exploring ALU's Benefits and the Onboarding Journey
As part of your welcome email, you will receive a pre-onboarding deck and a link to the pre-onboarding site. You are encouraged to explore these resources to get a better understanding of ALU’s benefits and what to expect in your onboarding journey. If you have any questions, feel free to schedule a pre-onboarding call with the People Team for support.
A Note From The Line Manager
Before or on the first day, an email from your manager will be shared, checking in and offering support.
First Day: Logging In & Getting Started
On Day 1, please check your personal email for the ALU email authentication request. Once received, log in to the email, and gain access to the Google Drive, Slack and all necessary tools.
Understanding the Role & Goals
The team onboarding deck is shared on your first day, outlining the goals and expectations for your new role. This provides clear direction and a sense of purpose from the outset.
Log in to Canvas
Complete the Canvas Onboarding program, where you learn all about our history, how to live out our values
Bamboohr Onboarding
Complete all the outstanding onboarding tasks.
Connecting with People Experience
A call with the People Experience team is scheduled. This conversation provides insight into the support and resources available at ALU, ensuring clear guidance and access to help throughout the journey.
Campus Tour
If you are on campus, our student ambassadors will show you around.
Connecting with Stakeholders
Now that you’ve gotten to know your manager, role, and team, it’s time to connect with key stakeholders across the organization.
Your team onboarding guide includes a list of the most relevant people for your role, take the initiative to reach out via Slack or email and start building those connections.
Training: Ongoing training on role-specific tools and processes.
Early Goals & Feedback: Initial performance check-ins and goal-setting.
Probation Performance Review: A formal review will be conducted to assess progress, receive feedback, and set long-term goals.
Harambe: Completion of the Harambe program, with a final check-in on cultural alignment and personal growth.
No matter where you are in your onboarding journey — Day 1, Week 2, or Day 90 — Fridays at ALU are a time to pause, connect, and grow with your colleagues. FLD is our weekly gathering, a core part of our culture, and is designed to help you feel included, informed, and inspired throughout your time here.
